🥟🐥 March 2025: Preflight

Dumplings! I’ll be in China for three weeks in April for school visits, and I’ve been preparing for both the visits themselves and the extended time I’m away from Julia and Rufus.

The kid is eight months old now, and while he can’t exactly crawl yet, he can painstakingly scoot himself forward a few inches at a time (usually this is to knock over a Jenga tower we’ve built in order to entice him). So part of my task before the trip is babyproofing the downstairs, where he spends most of his time. The other part is to make and freeze some meals in advance for Julia, who – even with help from my mom and friends – will have her hands very full.

Here’s the current progress in the nursery, along with cardboard mockups of crown moulding and a cabinet I’m building for his books:
